Boxing experts get inside the ring with some of the sport's greatest fighters

Before climbing the professional ranks, great fighter like Joe Louis and Ernie Terrell got their start as amateurs at the Chicago Golden Gloves and Catholic Youth Organization tournaments.  
Chicago Amateur Boxing reveals "how many great boxers started in the sport and what they accomplished before they turned professional".  Whereas many in professional boxing are "politically appointed", Curtin remarks that amateur events still retain boxing's true passion and excitement.

Co-author - Sean Curtin is a respected boxer, coach, trainer, judge, mentor and referee.  He served as chief of the Illinois Boxing Commission from 1998 to 2003, and is a member of the National Golden Gloves Hall of Fame.  

Co-author - J.J. Johnston is a native of Chicago, where he was an amateur boxer for several years.  He has worked on several boxing and crime documentaries for television and film, is a nationally recognized film and stage actor.
